The Bangkok Post is reporting this morning (8 May 2017) on hypertension, calling this a silent killer that affects 13 million Thais. A doctor cited suggests that blood pressure should be checked often (Bangkok Post).

This may not be so easy. A visit to a hospital for "Wellness" checking takes time and there is also (of course) a fee. Many medical professionals support the idea of home checking. This is already done by millions who suffer from diabetes. There are blood pressure devices, but they are not on sale here (as far as I have seen).

I have two: not because I am particularly worried about my blood pressure, although as I am over 60, it is a good idea to check. I do this often with the two devices I have. A doctor friend says it is a good idea to check three times a day (I usually manage once) noting the risk from stroke. I bought both as I was writing about HealthKit devices:

Unfortunately, the two devices had to be purchased via Amazon. While the basic price is reasonable, shipping and other costs make both more expensive than they otherwise might be if they were imported here. Some outlets may have older devices, but these only provide basic readings, while the Withings and Qardio monitors are designed to work with smartphone apps, so the data can be stores and (more important) shared with health professionals.
