Cassandra: Self-checking Blood Pressure - Many at Risk from Hypertension |
|
By Graham K. Rogers
This may not be so easy. A visit to a hospital for "Wellness" checking takes time and there is also (of course) a fee. Many medical professionals support the idea of home checking. This is already done by millions who suffer from diabetes. There are blood pressure devices, but they are not on sale here (as far as I have seen). I have two: not because I am particularly worried about my blood pressure, although as I am over 60, it is a good idea to check. I do this often with the two devices I have. A doctor friend says it is a good idea to check three times a day (I usually manage once) noting the risk from stroke. I bought both as I was writing about HealthKit devices:
Withings Blood Pressure Monitor (left) and Qardio Blood Pressure Monitor
