Among this morning's updates is a reference to Noir Photo, by Red Giant Software. The rubric tells us that the app has "returned" and is now updated for today's hardware.

There is no more information about the 2.2 update other than this. I have been using Noir Photo for a couple of years and like its unusual approach to editing monochrome images. Any photo brought in - from the library or using the camera - has the current preset applied. There are a number ranging from greens and blues to greys.

The focus of the effect may be changed using area highlighting and the strength of the effect can then be adjusted with 3 scroll wheels: contrast, brightness and strength. Noir Photo is available for $2.99 which is not expensive for anyone interested in good monochrome output.
