Cassandra: Product(RED) Updates for iOS Apps (updated)

apple and chopsticks

By Graham K. Rogers

There was some news on Sunday evening concerning Apple, apps and Product(RED): the organisation that helps to raise awareness and funds for the elimination of AIDS.

Product(RED) This morning, a couple of app updates are showing what the rumours mean in concrete terms. Of the four available, RealMac's Clear - Tasks, Reminders and ToDo Lists and Apple's GarageBand (both of which now show red icons on the App Store) have purchase options related to Product(RED).

(Update) I later found that Paper by FiftyThree was also updated to reflect its involvement in the campaign. From now, until 7 Dec, the logo will be changed (like the others) to a different color scheme. I expect there wil be some more of these Product(RED)-related updates in the next few days

Tasks, Reminders and ToDo Lists

This app has a limited edition offer for a Product(RED) theme that once purchased in-app will always be available to the user. This theme is only available for a limited time (see below). The theme can be used with the iPhone and iPad apps as well as with the application on the Mac (via Restore).

The Product(RED) in-app purchase for GarageBand is a little unusual in that there is an offer for some 300 loops which are not only useful for those making music with the app, but help support the cause. Note that this in-app option is only available until 7 December.

All the proceeds from these (and other) updates and in-app purchases go to charity: Product(RED).
