India Expansion by IBM Continues: New Office Opening in Visakhapatnam, South East India

In a press release IBM has announced that as part of its continuing and planned expansion in India and South Aisa, it is opening a branch office in Visakhapatnam, South East India. 2011 has seen IBM open 6 new offices within the country, and the company plans to have some 40 offices in India and South Asia within the next 2 years.

Those opened already this year include Coimbatore in the State of Tamil Nadu, Indore in the State of Madhya Pradesh, Dehradun in the State of Uttarakhand, Guwahati in the State of Assam and Raipur in the State of Chhattisgarh.

The press release tells us that "Visakhapatnam is an important port city in South East India. It has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years due to the development of petroleum, steel, fertilizer and IT industries." While the company has had a presence in the city for around 4 years through a global delivery center that provides services to clients around the world, the new office will strengthen its position in the area, enabling direct involvement on the ground in growth areas such as information management, IT security, cloud computing and business analytics for clients such as Eisai Pharmaceuticals and Phoenix IT Solutions, a fast emerging software company.
